Following up on its promise to tighten security after an employee's hacked account led to a limited number of users receiving spam in their registered email accounts, Dropbox is making two-factor authentication available as an option. For now the feature is being tested in an experimental build of the cloud storage application, but a public rollout is due in the next few days.Two-step verification adds an extra layer of protection to your account by requiring an additional security code that is sent to your phone by text message or generated using a mobile authenticator app. This makes it considerably harder for a potential hacker to gain access to your account even if he's able to get a hold of your password.Those who want to try out the new feature ahead of the official rollout can upgrade to the latest experimental build (version 1.5.12) and head to your account’s security settings page. In the "Account sign in" section near the bottom of the page you’ll be able to turn on "Two-step verification" and start the setup process.
Microsoft rolls out first new logo in 25 years
Microsoft on 23rd august,2012 unveiled a new corporate logo, the software giant’s first such facelift in 25 years, in attempts to project an impressive image ahead of the launch of a wave of major new products later this year.
The new logo consists of a symbol of four colored squares, and the “Microsoft” name in the so-called Segoe font. It already appears on the company’s website Microsoft.com.
It will gradually replace the old logo the company has used since 1987, which is mainly the “Microsoft” name in bold and italicized typeface without any symbol.
By revamping its logo, Microsoft is trying to signal that it has change its thinking and its product to cater to people who are interacting with technology much differently than just a decade ago, let alone a quarter century. It already appears on the company’s website Microsoft.com.
The new logo will be used in all Microsoft stores in the next few months, and will be featured in all of Microsoft’s television ads globally, the company said.
